Description

Just In! Here we have this rarely seen Recording King Model 1124 archtop acoustic guitar which is in great shape for its age. Original Recording Kings from this time period were built by Gibson and sold through Montgomery Ward as a more affordable guitar option for musicians. This is a quality made instrument (as expected from Gibson), but one of the features that this guitar lacks compared to its Gibson L-5 counterpart is an adjustable  truss rod. With that being said, the guitar has optimal neck relief with good action height. The neck profile is that of a vintage V shape which is typical and common throughout the 1930s between different guitar manufacturers. The frets are low and narrow with minimal fret wear. The overall condition of this guitar is very good for its age with most of the wear being on the back of the neck. There is a light ding in the finish on the lower bout of the guitar as pictured. There is a slight crack in the binding on the back side of the guitar but is very minor and isn't loose. This exact guitar was featured on the cover of “THE OTHER BRANDS OF GIBSON BY PAUL FOX” and is also shown in the book. The book is included with the sale of the guitar. The guitar will be shipped in a non-original hard case.
